Have you heard of Owen?
Until last night, I hadn't either. Feels slightly reminiscent of Death Cab. I like.

So this may potentially cause you to view me as either a music nerd or a music snob, but I was on a Vitamin String Quartet binge today and stumbled across their Kings of Leon tribute....

I found this to be interesting :)

Awesome song and commercial

I hope you have seen the Southern Comfort commercial with the guy walking with awesome background music.  I decided to download the song because it puts me in an awesome mood and I wish it was my personal background music.  Here's the commercial which for some reason you have to verify your age haha I don't know why (maybe the speedo?) Southern Comfort Commercial
And here's the actual song by Odetta. Odetta - Hit or Miss
Here's to commercials that give me awesome songs.

I love this song, and thought the music video was pretty cool. So even though I know that you already know the song, you might wanna see the video.

Cool beans.

also, they are on tour. That said, they'll be in both Boston and New York in February. Therefore, we ought to go.

Ok, I'm done.

Female rockers

So clearly girls make up half the music club, and I'd argue more like 66.666666666% really. Did you know I had a period of time where I was into female rockers haha yup, and I'd say that Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is my favorite cuz she's always yellin out "yaaa" randomly through all her songs, plus I like her voice.  Anyways, this song is probably my favorite cuz it has a haunting sound to it that's kinda cool with her voice, my favorite part is right before the awesome power chorded chorus she gets rid of her patented "yaaa" and tops it with her best "yyyeeeooowwww".  Hope you like it and never heard it before. YEEEEOOWWWWWW  <------ thats the link I fancified it.
Oh, also I think Annie could pull her look off with a crap ton of makeup and several bags of glitter.

Annie on Cake

Okay well I'm just going to talk about a song that I am into right now. Comfort Eagle by Cake. #1 I like the Russian-like tinkles and I like the imagery of the lyrics. Once again, Cake is mad at The Man.

I personally am a big fan of female artists with strong voices, clever lyrics and strong piano background... mostly because that's what I like to play haha...
But I recently rediscovered this song when I transferred my old iTunes to my new computer and I love singing along to it. A little melancholy, but still enjoyable... at least to me haha :)

One of my favorite songs ever, love these lyrics at the end.
No one wants to hear
What you dreamt about unless you dreamt about them
Don't let that stop you
Tell them anyway
And you can make it up as you go
I'm already gone now
You were outside just waiting
I'm already nothing
You just noticed me fading
It takes a lot to make me crazy
And a lot is always going on

This post isn't music, but it made me appreciate music even more.  Also it made me think about what it will be like in the new system when people will hear or see for the first time.  You're gonna cry haha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsOo3jzkhYA&feature=related

Favorite snowboarding song, go... (sorry if this doesn't apply to some of you...(annie))

Soooo.... since Jim is being pretty demanding about what he wants to see on this page, I have to decided to make a little contribution for the time being...

Noah and the Whale is cool little band from the UK. Their song 5 Years Time is pretty feel good song, nice bouncy rhythm. But don't expect super great vocals. He's no Marcus Mumford, but I really like the style of the band, and so, here is my share! Check out the song below.

Annie

In line with Jim's post, I would have to say that my coming out to society would be Europe's Final Countdown which you can find here: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=AyggY_R3jU8&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DAyggY_R3jU8 This is a total classic 80's hair song. The lyrics are so bad yet poetic genius. Lyrics such as "we're heading for Venus and still we stand tall, 'cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all" Who says stuff like that??

Jim

Wooo the blog is up! I was thinking today, if I had to come out to a song like baseball players do for their at bats or anything really, what song would I pick...got it.
